Estadio Alberto Grisales
Rionegro, Colombia
The pitch itself tells its own story. Rionegro laid artificial turf in 2010 and lived with it for six years before ripping it out over January and February 2016, replacing it with Kikuyo grass — a switch that put it back in line with clubs who never trusted synthetic surfaces for competitive football. Águilas Doradas have called it home through those changes, the club having arrived under earlier names before settling into the Grisales as their base in the Oriente Antioqueño.
That municipal ownership also explains the latest turn in its history — toward the end of 2025 the city administration shut the stadium for modernisation work, the kind of decision that comes from a town hall budget rather than a boardroom.
At 14,000 capacity, the Grisales was never built to rival its larger neighbours; it has instead stayed a fixture of a mid-sized football town since opening in 1978, doing the steady work of hosting Águilas Doradas' home fixtures rather than chasing marquee status.
