For the home of Alianza F.C. , the ground is defined by its recent history rather than its age. The original stadium opened in 1956, but the current form dates from a reconstruction completed in 2016. The project was initiated by the local government, aiming to bring a major venue to Valledupar, the capital of the Cesar department. The capacity settled at 11,000.

The ground has hosted significant matches in Colombia, including the final of the 2015 South American U-15 Championship, where Brazil defeated Uruguay. It has also staged Copa Colombia semifinals and the 2022 Bolivarian Games. For the club, which relocated from Barrancabermeja in January 2024, the move back to Cesar marked a return to a familiar environment. The capacity is not large enough to intimidate visitors, but the stadium did not fall silent when the pressure was on during the Categoría Primera B finals in previous years.

The architecture is practical, with the cantilevered roofs providing shade for the majority of the stands. The pitch is rectangular, and the goal areas are clearly marked.
