Estadio Banco del Pacífico Capwell

The ground in Guayaquil is defined by the blue. Emelec have made the stadium their own. You see it in the light shows that sweep across the pitch before kick-off, and you see it in the banners hanging from the roof.

The atmosphere changes when the floodlights come on. The city lights glow in the distance, but the focus is entirely on the field.

The history here is visible in the structure itself. It opened in 1945 and was rebuilt twice. The last major work finished in 2017, adding corner towers and suites, but the soul of the place remains in the supporters' stand.

The pitch is natural grass, measured at 105 by 68 metres. It has a drainage system to handle the tropical rain. When the waterlogging stopped a recent final, it was a reminder that the climate dictates the game as much as the tactics. The ground is located at the intersection of Calle General Gómez and Avenida Quito. It is the only place in the city where you can watch the club play live.
