Comayagua's ground grew out of a design already on paper years before the first ball was kicked there: the layout came from Perspectivas Arquitectónicas back in 1998, and the site kept its old working name, Polideportivo, well into construction. Building finished in late 2005, but the ground did not properly open until the following year, when Motagua and Alajuelense played the first international fixture there in January — a sign, from the start, that the city's own club would share the pitch with the country's bigger names rather than own it outright.

That arrangement has held. Hispano FC, also known as Comayagua FC, is the club that actually calls the stadium home, while Motagua and Olimpia turn up only when they need an alternative venue away from their usual grounds.

The most recent change came from a 2021–2022 rebuild that touched the parts fans don't see on matchday: drainage under the pitch, the tunnel and dressing rooms, and the floodlight generators. The turf itself, Bermuda grass, was relaid as part of that work, funded through a municipal budget of roughly four million lempiras, since the ground remains city property with no separate club or company running it.
