Estadio Cementos Progreso

The name on the stand belongs to a cement company, but in Zona 6 people still say La Pedrera — the quarry district gave the ground its first name, and it stuck long after the sponsor's lettering went up in November 1991.

What sets it apart from the other big grounds in the capital is that it spent two years empty of its main tenant and then had to be rebuilt to get them back. Comunicaciones FC played here from the opening until 2022, moved elsewhere, and only returned in 2024 once the work was finished. That work went well past a coat of paint: the natural pitch was taken out and replaced with an Italian-made synthetic surface laid over a shock pad to FIFA standards, the drainage was redone, the sanitary blocks and the car park were reworked, and the dressing rooms came back with cryotherapy areas.

The stadium is talked about locally as the work of a Guatemalan engineer, and as one of the better pieces of engineering in Central America, though no name is attached to it in the record.

Since 2025 it has also taken on national duty, hosting Guatemala in qualifying for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. CSD Municipal, once at home here too, now plays elsewhere. Crowds above 15,000 have been reported at matches during the disputes of the 2020s.
