Estadio Cincuentenario
Medellin, Colombia
Inaugurated in 1979, the ground was built to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Antioquia Football League. It sits under the management of Indeportes Antioquia and holds a capacity of 4,000, a number that has seen some fluctuation in reports over the years. More often, it serves as a home for rugby, hosting local and national tournaments, though it has occasionally hosted football. In 2026, the Estadio Cincuentenario became the temporary base for Rionegro Águilas, who play their permanent matches in the town of Rionegro, while their usual venue underwent renovations.
The view from the stands is distinct. Concrete bleachers face a backdrop of green hills and red-roofed buildings, a reminder that the ground is nested within the city's residential sprawl. A blue railing cuts across the foreground of the scene, separating the observer from the field. There are no grandstands or covered roofs here, just open concrete and the wind coming off the mountains. It is a functional space, smaller than the city's main football arenas, yet it has hosted its own share of matches and seasons. The surface is natural grass, kept green despite the occasional rain. The name, Cincuentenario, remains the primary identifier, a nod to a league that has existed for half a century and more.
