Estadio Ciudad Evita

The name on the gate does not match the badge over most doorways in La Matanza: this is Estadio Ciudad Evita, but older programmes and neighbourhood signage still call it Estadio Benjamin Zurini, and both names circulate for the same ground. It sits on José Mario Bevilacqua 1556, wedged between the Riccheri motorway and the Camino de Cintura, on a five-hectare plot that Club Social y Deportivo Yupanqui bought in 2018 after decades of playing on other clubs' pitches.

That homelessness is the real story here. Yupanqui went from a ground called Savio 80, to a rented pitch in Lugano holding barely 2,000, then borrowed the much larger República de Italia off Sportivo Italiano and later Sacachispas' stadium, before finally building something of their own. The opening, on 31 October 2021, was a friendly against a Selección Argentina Senior side rather than a competitive fixture — the first league match, a 1-1 draw with Juventud Unida in the Primera D, did not come until the following May.

What they built is modest by design: room for 1,000 spectators on natural turf, a scale that suits a club whose history is one of tenancy rather than ambition for size. There is no record of what construction cost, and no capacity history to speak of, since the ground has known only one configuration since it opened. For Yupanqui, the point was simply having a home address after years of borrowed ones.
