Estadio Correcaminos

The Estadio Correcaminos is younger than most grounds in the Salvadoran top flight — building work ran from 2007 to 2009, and the official opening followed on 15 April that year. The first competitive match had already been played nine days earlier, on 6 April 2009, when CD Vista Hermosa beat CD Juventud Independiente 1–0, so the ground had its first result on record before the ribbon was cut.

It sits in San Francisco Gotera, the departmental capital of Morazán, in the east of the country — a region better known for coffee and the civil-war history around El Mozote than for football infrastructure, which makes a purpose-built stadium here worth noting on its own. Vista Hermosa, the club named in that opening fixture, later took the name CD Guadalupano and is the side most associated with the venue.

The pitch is natural grass, and the stadium holds 12,000 — a capacity that outsizes the town it serves, more typical of a provincial arena built with an eye on hosting beyond its resident club's own crowds.

One point worth clearing up for anyone searching the name: this is not the home of Correcaminos UAT, the Mexican club based in Tampico, which plays at the Estadio Marte R. Gómez. The Salvadoran ground shares only the name, drawn from the roadrunner rather than any connection to the Mexican side.
