Estadio Couto Pereira

Concrete came first, and the nickname followed: Gigante de Concreto Armado, the Giant of Reinforced Concrete. The land under it was bought in 1927 by Major Antônio Couto Pereira, then president of Coritiba Foot Ball Club, who paid for the construction and supervised it. The stadium opened on 20 November 1932 as Estádio Belfort Duarte, after a club player, and carried that name for forty-four years; the change to Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira came on 28 February 1977, after Couto Pereira's death.

The ground was at its largest in the 1980s, when it held somewhere between 70,000 and 80,000. The biggest crowd of that decade was not there for football: 70,000 came on 5 August 1980 for a mass said by Pope John Paul II. Coritiba's own record, 80,000, is claimed for the match against São Paulo on 18 August 1998, which Coritiba won 2–1.

The reductions since have been deliberate. Boxes went in during the 2005 rebuild and took seats out with them; the Setor Pro Tork pavilion followed in 2014. Curitiba was not a 2014 World Cup venue for Couto Pereira — that work passed the ground by entirely.

What has filled it instead are concerts: Roger Waters in 2018, Paul McCartney in 2019 and again in 2023, Coldplay and Foo Fighters the same year, Bruno Mars in 2024, then System of a Down, Olivia Rodrigo and Linkin Park in 2025.
