The ground sits on a university campus.

The density of the crowd in the lower photos suggests that the seating tiers do not sit far back from the pitch. The stands are packed tight, and the view down the line of the stands shows people wearing red and white, which is the colour of the club that camps in the final third. The other image shows the night side of the argument. The floodlights are bright enough to make the grass look flat and green, and the upper stands are a grid of white dots from mobile phones. You can see the black barrier separating the pitch from the running track that the university still uses. The track was remodeled in 2024, which means the stadium serves two masters: the football club and the students.

FBC Melgar plays here, and the ground has hosted the *Copa América* and the Sudamericano Sub-20, but the atmosphere is shaped by the building itself. It is not a closed bowl; the open arches let the heat of the city in. The LED lighting system installed recently allows the games to continue after dark, and the attendance record of 35,565 was set during a final play-off that sent the fans into a frenzy. The university keeps the track, and the club keeps the night, and the two sides of the ground remain separate until the whistle blows.
