The ground belongs to the town, not the club: Felgueiras City Council owns it. What survived the dissolution was the site in Várzea and the name on the gate — Dr. Machado de Matos, a local figure the ground commemorates rather than a builder or benefactor of it.
The single afternoon everything else is measured against came on 24 September 1995, when Felgueiras, then in the Primeira Divisão and managed by Jorge Jesus, drew 1–1 with FC Porto. A reported 15,000 got in. That same season took the club to the Round of 16 of the Taça de Portugal, where Penafiel won 1–2.
Three decades on, the numbers are of a different order. The recent high-water mark is 1,698, set on 4 May 2025 for a Liga Portugal 2 fixture against Benfica B that finished 3–3. The pitch is natural grass, with a smaller synthetic field alongside it. Felgueiras 1932 remain in Liga Portugal 2 for the 2025–26 season.
