In 1967 the Chilean government bought 51% of the company; in 1971, once the nationalisation of copper was complete, the stadium passed to the state corporation Codelco and became Estadio Parque El Teniente . A full rebuild in 2013–2014 shortened it to Estadio El Teniente.

That rebuild, costed at 9.9 million US dollars and carried out by Cerinco under architects Герардо Марамибо, Клаудио Асэйтуно, Пабло Альенде and Педро Пиночет, was done with a deadline: the ground was being prepared for the Кубок Америки 2015, where it staged two matches.

Ранкагуа took seven matches of the Чемпионат мира по футболу 1962, among them the quarter-final between Чехословакия and Венгрия. More recently the ground has taken the Кубок Чили final twice: «Магальянес» beat «Унион Эспанола» on penalties in 2022, and «Уачипато» beat «Депортес Лимаче» in 2025, the same year the stadium hosted matches of the Чемпионат мира U-20.

Between times it does other work. In August 2024 it held ExpoMinería Sur — a mining trade fair.
