Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero
The Estadio Eladio Rosabal Cordero sits in Heredia Centro, Costa Rica, where the **artificial** surface has replaced the original grass since 2010.
The ground is closing in on itself. The original structure began to come down in July 2020, the first stone for the new complex laid just a few months later. They are building a roof that will cover everything, a flexible tarp high above the crowd.
You can walk down Calle 16 to find it. The club, Club Sport Herediano, has played here since 1949. They used to decide finals on this turf, and they did it often enough that the record books note it was the place where the most short-tournament finals went to penalties.
Now they are waiting for August 2026. The plans mention 12,000 seats, though safety regulations cut that from the original idea of 16,000. It will be part of a larger block that includes a seven-story hotel and underground parking. For now, the ground remains as it was, the grass replaced by plastic.
