Estadio General José de San Martín

San Martín, Argentina

Formerly: Estadio Libertador General San Martín

The Estadio General José de San Martín sits at the corner of Boulogne Sur Mer and Lavalle, on the edge of the city that shares its name. It opened in 1956, its inaugural match a meeting with a visiting side also called San Martín, this one from San Juan.

The ground has kept its name through seven decades without a sponsor buying the rights to change it, and it still goes by two titles interchangeably: General José de San Martín and Libertador General San Martín. That habit of repetition extends beyond Mendoza — a since-demolished ground in Mar del Plata carried an almost identical name, and a separate Estadio San Martín stands in Tucumán, so the record here belongs firmly to this one corner of Mendoza and no other.

It holds 8,782 spectators on natural grass, currently the Torneo Federal A.
