Estádio José Sobrinho Barros
Itaporanga, Brazil
The ground sits in the Centro district of Itaporanga, on Praça do Centenário. It is not a large venue, with an official capacity of around 3,000, yet it holds a record of nearly 10,000 fans. That record came in May 2014, during the final of the Poeirão, an amateur football tournament that brings people from far away. The match was between Jurema and União FC.
The stadium was opened in 1993 and served local clubs for years before falling into disrepair. Local teams had to withdraw from the state league because the pitch and stands were unsafe. A renovation began in September 2014 and finished two years later. The new roof and seating were opened by the Governor of Paraíba, Ricardo Coutinho, and the Mayor, Audiberg Alves. The surface is natural grass, cut short for play.
The name Zezão is used by the locals, a nickname that fits the unpretentious nature of the place.
