Estadio Jose Tomas Silva
Asunción, Paraguay
Estadio José Tomás Silva is a modest pitch in the Barrio Virgen del Huerto of Asunción, Paraguay. There are no floodlights to push back the dark, and the ground is popularly known by the nickname "La Paila" — The Pot.
The stadium was constructed by the club itself in 1970, when Sportivo Ameliano moved to this neighbourhood. It is named after José Tomás Silva, a significant promoter of the club. The capacity sits at 800 spectators, a reduction from older reports that cited 2,000. It is a place of training and social gathering now, having served as the first-team home until February 22, 2025, when the club relocated its senior matches to the larger Estadio La Fortaleza del Pikysyry in Villeta.
Yet the ground retains a sharp edge in its history. On June 1, 1993, during a Segunda de Ascenso match against Club General Caballero CG, referee William Weiler issued a total of 20 red cards, a record recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records for the most red cards in a single official match. The stadium has also hosted matches in the Paraguayan Primera División B and the club's historic promotion to the Primera División in 2021. More recently, it staged Sportivo Ameliano's home matches in the 2024 Copa Sudamericana group stage against Danubio FC and Athletico Paranaense. The pitch is natural grass.
