Estadio Leon
León, Mexico
The stadium is known locally as **Nou Camp**, a nod to the Barcelona ground because of its similar appearance, though the name is not official. Construction began in 1965 and it opened in 1967, replacing the older Estadio Patria and Estadio La Martinica. It held matches during the 1970 and 1986 World Cups, and the highest crowd for a game here was 36,540 for the France versus the Soviet Union fixture in 1986.
The capacity sits at 31,297, though the exact number fluctuates depending on which source you trust. Renovations in the 1990s and again in 2009 changed the shape of the place, adding to the main stand and updating the facilities. A plan for a completely new stadium was cancelled in 2023, so the existing building remains the focal point for the city.
It is not a massive venue, but it holds its own history.
