Estádio Marcolino de Castro

Marcolino de Castro ran CD Feirense before the ground carried his name, and Santa Maria da Feira has kept it that way since the gates first opened in 1962.

Feirense have played there since, a club whose ceiling has always been lower than its neighbours' in size but whose home end has stayed exactly where it was when the turf went down. The pitch has aged better than a stadium built to hold just over five thousand people usually does.

It is not a ground built for European nights or for chasing bigger crowds. It is the one pitch in Santa Maria da Feira where the club plays, named for the man who helped build the club that plays there, and that is the whole of its case.
