Estadio Marquesa de la Ensenada

The pitch at Эстадио Маркеса де ла Энсенада did not grow where it stands. When the ground opened in April 1963, the turf was cut and carted in from Finca Merceditas at Сан-Рафаэль-Пье-де-ла-Куэста, laid down in Сан-Маркос.

María Josefa Barrios y Aparicio — widow of the Marqués de la Ensenada, and daughter of former Guatemalan president Justo Rufino Barrios — donated both the land and the money, some 186,000 quetzales towards construction.

That name has not changed since. Nor, for the most part, has the structure: no major rebuild of the terraces or roofing has followed in the decades since opening, and the works reported in 2025 amounted to maintenance on a floodlight pylon rather than anything that alters the shape of the place.

What has changed is what it hosts. Депортиво Маркенсе play here in the Liga Nacional, and the ground's largest occasion came in 2007, when it staged the finals of the Guatemalan championship. Маркенсе finished as runners-up.

The address is ordinary enough — 5a Avenida B, with the 12N highway running past inside the city limits.
