Estádio Metropolitano Governador Roberto Santos
Salvador, Brazil
Formerly: Estádio Metropolitano Roberto Santos, Estádio Roberto Santos
Where most stadiums are cut into the landscape, this one sits beneath them, with the dense tropical canopy rising directly behind the stands.
The seating arrangement reinforces this separation.
The stadium was opened in 1979, though the current configuration dates from a significant renovation completed in 2009. The capacity sits at just over 32,000. It has hosted international matches, including a friendly against Chile in 2009, and serves as a venue for the Campeonato Baiano. The grounds are currently undergoing work in preparation for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, with plans for a new hybrid grass surface. Notably, the venue is also a site for the Pituaçu Solar project, a large-scale energy installation that covers parts of the surrounding area.
