Estadio Municipal Ambrosio Maco Arroyo

The ground stands in a developing area of La Matanza, roughly an hour and a half from the city of Piura. It was not built to serve the local community but to accommodate the ambitions of Atlético Grau, who needed a venue to meet the safety and attendance standards required for the Peruvian Primera División. The project was initiated by the Regional Government of Piura, which expanded the original plan for 3,000 seats to ensure the club could remain in the top flight. Construction began in July 2025, and the stadium was officially opened on May 30, 2026.

Ambrosio Maco Arroyo is the name of the place, given from the outset to a local figure. The investment totaled approximately S/ 6.7 million, a sum directed by the Morropón-Huancabamba Sub-Regional Management to create a facility capable of hosting Liga 1 matches. Atlético Grau plays its home fixtures here, replacing the old grounds they had used for years. The surface is natural grass, cut to the dimensions required by the national federation, ensuring consistency with the rest of the country’s top tier.

The first official competitive match took place on July 18, 2026, when Atlético Grau defeated UTC 3–1. Goals from Rafael Guarderas, Mauro Da Luz, and Adrián Fernández secured the victory, marking the beginning of a new era for the club. The stadium has not had any previous names or sponsorships, retaining its identity from the day it was unveiled.

There is no official website for the stadium itself, but updates on maintenance and events can be found on the regional government’s portal. The capacity of 5,000 spectators is modest compared to the capital’s venues, but it provides a focused environment where the stands are close to the pitch.
