Estádio Municipal Antônio de Figueiredo Carneiro

Alagoinhas, Brazil

Formerly: Estádio Municipal, Estádio Antônio Carneiro

The year it opened, 1970, is the only date that sticks. It hosts football and it hosts the São João festival, the June celebrations that bring musicians and crowds into a space usually reserved for ninety-minute matches.

UNIRB Futebol Clube also uses the ground, sharing the turf and the stands. The municipal records state 9,000, while the governing body for the sport in Brazil, the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF), lists 8,000 for competitive use.

What changed the look of the place was the renovation in 2006. The surface is natural grass, grown from Bermuda Tifton, a variety known for its resilience in heat. The stadium was formally incorporated into the public patrimony of Alagoinhas in 2021, finally resolving a long-standing uncertainty over its deed. The attendance for a Copa do Brasil fixture was 1,102.
