It has hosted moments that matter in the small way they matter. C.D. Mafra reached the second tier of Portuguese football here, a promotion that sent a ripple through the crowd. They have played in the cup, drawing a semi-final return leg against Tondela. But the game here is not always clean. A ball boy collapsed behind the goal in August, and the match stopped for ten minutes while the crowd waited. It was a medical emergency, not a football incident, but it broke the day.
The stadium does not reach for the big stages. There are no finals here, no international fixtures. It is a place for local football.
