Estádio Municipal General Raulino de Oliveira

Volta Redonda built its identity on steel, and the ground everyone in the city still calls the Estádio do Aço wears that history in its nickname even when the official signage reads General Raulino de Oliveira. The plant that gave the town its purpose also gave the stadium its second name, and locals reach for it more readily than the formal one.

Opened in 1976, it has served as the only real football address in a city built around industry rather than the game, which makes it the fixed point for Volta Redonda Futebol Clube regardless of the division the club finds itself in. There is no rival ground across town competing for attention; whatever happens in Volta Redonda football happens here.

The surface has been a subject of its own. Plans surfaced in 2022 to move from natural grass to a hybrid pitch, with a target of having it ready the following year, and some reporting since has continued to describe the field as natural turf, so whether the switch was carried through in full is not something that can be stated with confidence.

The stadium also carries the name Estádio da Cidadania, a label that leans into its role as municipal property rather than a club-owned arena, sitting in the Aterrado district on Rua 545. That civic framing matches how the ground functions day to day: a fixture of the city first, a football venue second, even though for Volta Redonda's supporters the two are barely separable.
