Estadio Olímpico Etho Vega
Only one venue in Santo Domingo de los Colorados carries an Olympic designation, and its name has changed more recently than most: for years it was the Estadio Olímpico Tsáchila, a nod to the Tsáchila people native to the region, before the city renamed it for Etho Vega Baquero, the local sports figure credited with pushing the ground into existence in the first place. He is said to have taken a hands-on role in the original construction, overseeing the delivery of materials himself rather than leaving the job to contractors.
The stadium sits in the Puerto Quito sector, on Avenida Río Lelia, with a natural grass pitch and a capacity just above ten thousand — modest by national standards, but enough to make it the anchor ground for a cluster of clubs rather than a single tenant. Sociedad Deportivo Santo Domingo, Club Deportivo Puerto Quito, Club Atlético Santo Domingo and Club Deportivo Vargas Torres have all called it home at different points, and it has also hosted travelling sides on temporary stays, among them Club Atlético Green Cross and Club Deportivo Espoli.
Its regular fixtures come from Serie B and the Copa Ecuador rather than the top flight, which keeps the ground out of the national spotlight for long stretches. That changed briefly when Barcelona Sporting Club brought its centenary celebrations here, staging one of its Noches Amarillas concerts on the pitch — a reminder that outside match nights, the stadium doubles as one of the city's few venues built to hold a crowd at all.
