Estadio Olímpico Nacional Brígido Iriarte The stadium was opened in 1936, but the form that visitors see today dates to a complete rebuild in 1983 for the Pan American Games. That project was designed by the architect Omar Carnevali. A second major renovation in 2007 replaced the old standing terraces with 9,800 blue plastic seats, bringing the capacity down to 10,000. That work also saw the construction of the CAROA athletics centre within the eastern stands and repairs to the lighting system and press area.
The playing surface is natural grass. The ground has hosted several international events, including the 1983 Copa América matches and the 2007 ALBA Games. In 2010 it served as a shelter for people displaced by heavy rain. In recent years the venue has returned to hosting football, with Caracas FC, Atlético Venezuela, Estudiantes de Caracas and Deportivo Miranda FC all using the pitch.
The stadium is operated by the Instituto Nacional de Deportes de Venezuela. It sits at Avenida Principal El Estadio in the El Paraíso parish.
