Estádio Soares de Azevedo

The Estádio Soares de Azevedo has no earlier chapters to draw on — it opened on 9 February 2014, built new rather than rebuilt, and its history in Muriaé runs no further back than that opening whistle. Nacional de Muriaé faced Guarani de Divinópolis that day, the first match the ground ever hosted.

Locals rarely bother with the official name. The stadium sits on the BR-356, the federal highway running through the city, and that address gave it the nickname Gigante da 356. It also goes by Brazão around Muriaé, shorthand that has stuck harder than the name on the sign.

At just under 14,000 seats, it counts among the larger grounds in Minas Gerais, a size that outstrips what a city of Muriaé's standing would typically need — the kind of capacity built with regional ambitions in mind rather than the local fixture list alone.

The pitch is natural grass, laid out to the standard 105 by 68 metres, and the ground has carried no other name since its doors opened.
