The land came from a construction businessman, Toribio Vargas, who signed it over in 1959; the deed carried his name, and so did the ground that opened on it a year later in Barrio Jara. That name has outlasted the club's own comings and goings.

What sets the ground apart came in the 1970s, when it became the first stadium in the Paraguayan lower divisions fitted with floodlights — a small ground in a residential neighbourhood.

Then it stood empty. Between 2002 and 2014 Tacuary played at Estadio Roberto Bettega, a ground more than twice the size, and Toribio Vargas was left alone for over a decade. When the club decided to come back in 2015, the place needed repairs before anyone could play on it, and Tacuary spent the intervening months borrowing pitches from neighbouring clubs. The work finished in August 2015.

The capacity has not moved since 1960: 3,000, which rules out national finals and large concerts. It does not rule out continental football. Tacuary have hosted Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana ties here, among them Palmeiras in 2005 and Estudiantes in 2023.
