The ground carries a personal story in its name: local journalist Mike Forero Nougués pushed for the stadium to be built and named it after his mother, Conchita Nougués de Forero.

Club Deportivo Real Santander only settled here in 2021, after a wandering spell that took the side from Floridablanca to San Andrés, where it played under the name Real San Andrés before returning to its current identity and moving into Piedecuesta. Villa Concha now hosts the club's Categoría Primera B fixtures, alongside amateur competitions such as the Octogonal de Villa Concha.

A renovation backed by the Piedecuesta municipal authority ran from 2017 to 2019, adding covered stands on the east and west sides, new dressing rooms, floodlighting and a synthetic pitch. The reinauguration came on 28 December 2019 — but the project hit a wall there: Villa Concha remains, in local shorthand, obra gris, unpainted concrete with no boxes, no press area and no in-house sound system.

On 18 January 2026, a fire broke out during turf maintenance. A service vehicle was destroyed and roughly 4% of the pitch was damaged; nobody was hurt, and Real Santander took on the cost of repairs.
