Fakel

The plot on Pisatelya Marshaka Street has been in use for sport since the late 1920s, when the regional council of trade unions laid out a ground there, and the name kept changing with the era around it: OSPS first, Pishchevik from 1936, Znamya from 1953, Trud from 1958, and from 1973 the Central Stadium of Trade Unions. The Fakel standing on the site is younger than the site — built for the KBKhA design bureau and opened in 1986, with the stands put up around it in 1989.

The reconstruction finished on 27 July 2024, and the ground was used the same day: the first Russian Premier League match after the works was played that afternoon against Akron. The Moscow firm Stroyinzhiniring was general contractor, on a reconstruction contract of 811.3m roubles within a project costed at roughly 2bn. What came out of it is an artificial pitch with drainage and undersoil heating, dressed with coconut chippings rather than the usual rubber crumb for cushioning — a solution the club's press attaché called unique in Russian football at that point.

The rebuild cost the ground its size. The old two-tier bowl took up to 34,800 in the 1980s and 1990s, and the counted peak of 32,000 dates from 1962–65; the replacement holds 10,052. That puts the attendance record out of reach — 20,000, set twice against Spartak Moscow, on 18 August 2001 and again on 27 August 2022. In July 2025 a First League seasonal record of 10,003 was set here against Ufa, which is the new ceiling rather than the old one. While a larger stadium of 24,000–25,000 is built for the 2029/30 season, Fakel's matches are played at another ground of the same name in the south-western district of Voronezh.
