Finley Stadium

Locals call it Fort Finley. It went up through a joint effort between the Stadium Corporation, the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County, with ground broken in March 1996 and the doors opening on 18 October 1997. That first night set the tone: the U.S. men's national team beat Sweden 3–1 in front of 13,433 fans, hosting the USWNT against Costa Rica in 2015 in front of a Tennessee-record crowd for the team, and the men against Jamaica in 2017.

For over a decade the stadium carried a heavier load than most college venues its size — it staged the FCS national championship every year from 1997 to 2009, with Appalachian State collecting three of those titles on the same turf. The record crowd, though, came from a different corner of the college game: 23,010 for the 2007 Division I FCS title match between Appalachian State and Delaware.

The surface has been redone since — a $600,000 AstroTurf install in 2015 that can be relined for either football or American football, which keeps the ground workable for the Chattanooga Mocs and Chattanooga FC without the two codes fighting over the pitch. Beyond sport, it doubles as the start and finish line for the Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon and hosted Kane Brown's 2022 concert, the biggest solo show the venue has put on.
