First Horizon Stadium
Cary, United States
Formerly: State Capital Soccer Park, SAS Soccer Park, WakeMed Soccer Park, Sahlen's Stadium
First Horizon Stadium stands within the WakeMed Soccer Park complex in Cary, North Carolina, having opened in May 2002. The facility was funded by Wake County through hotel and food and beverage taxes before the Town of Cary assumed operations and maintenance two years later. The main stadium carried several names before the 2024 naming rights agreement with First Horizon Bank, moving from Sahlen's Stadium and WakeMed Soccer Park to its current title.
The playing surface is natural grass, and the official seating capacity sits at 9,200, with the option to expand for larger events. A major expansion in 2011 and 2012 cost $6.3 million, adding 3,000 permanent seats across the north end zone and a new upper-level stand on the east side alongside a three-story building housing restrooms and concessions. This work increased capacity from 7,000 to 10,000. Further upgrades in 2020 brought a new drainage and irrigation system, new seats, and full-stadium WiFi.
Current tenants include the North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League and North Carolina FC in the United Soccer Leagues One. The venue has hosted numerous NCAA Women's College Cup finals across two decades, along with the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship group stage matches and various international friendlies for both men's and women's teams from the United States.
