FK Minsk Stadium

The thing that sets this ground apart in Minsk is that it was built to be one club's home from the first day. It opened on 7 May 2015 as the Стадион ФК «Минск», and the name has not changed since.

It sits on улица Маяковского, in the third building of the address.

The pitch is the part worth dwelling on. It is an artificial surface, heated from beneath and carrying ФИФА certification. Heating under a synthetic pitch is the practical answer to a Minsk winter: it keeps the surface playable through the months when a grass field in the same city would be frozen or under snow. The ФИФА certification is the other half of that answer, because it sets the standard the surface has to meet rather than simply existing as a plastic carpet.

Floodlighting was installed as well, so evening fixtures do not depend on the light. Taken together with the heating, the two systems point at the same intention: a venue meant to work all year and at any hour, not one that empties out when the season turns.
