The Football Academy occupies a corner of Kingtom, Freetown, just off 21 Battery Street. It is not a monument. It is a working pitch for the Sierra Leone Football Association. Behind that wall the ground is a compact rectangle of artificial turf. It is not the largest venue in the city but it is the one that still operates day-to-day for the domestic game.
The surface is the most visible feature. The pitch was laid in 2024 under a FIFA Forward project, a contract signed the year before with the Dutch firm Edel Grass. The turf is flat, the lines sharp. The capacity sits at 2,000.
The site has been the SLFA headquarters for years, though it was long known simply as the SLFA Grounds . It hosts Premier League matches, usually for clubs like East End Lions and Freetown City, and it hosts training sessions for everyone else.
