Galabank
Galabank takes its name from the ground itself rather than a sponsor: "Gala" from the Gala Water running past Annan, "bank" from the rise of land beside it. Annan Athletic moved here from Mafeking Park, and the ground has grown up in stages rather than through one grand rebuild.
The first came in 1978, when the pitch was brought up to the standard the Scottish Football Association required of its member clubs. Floodlights followed only in 2008, put up specifically so Annan Athletic could take their place in the Scottish Football League. The bigger change came in 2012, when the club tore up the natural grass that had carried the ground since it opened and laid a 3G synthetic surface built to UEFA Pro specification, a £592,000 job finished in time for the following season.
