What sets Gardiners Reserve apart is scale — or the lack of it.

The reserve carries three pitches, which explains how it manages to host a rotating cast of clubs rather than one tenant. Eastern Lions SC, competing in the National Premier League Victoria, train and play here alongside Mount Waverley City SC and Hume City, a arrangement that keeps the site busy across age groups and standards most weeks of the season. Two of the three surfaces are natural turf; the third is synthetic.

Burwood itself sits within the City of Monash, and the reserve's management runs through the council rather than any club or independent trust — there is no dedicated stadium website, only the municipal recreation pages. A pitch upgrade in 2022 refreshed the playing surfaces, work that matters more to the clubs training there weekly than to any occasional visitor.

No official record fixes the year Gardiners Reserve opened, and nothing here points to prior names or a different past life.
