Gateshead International Stadium

Two derelict chemical works stood on this ground before the council cleared them, and the arena that replaced them opened on 27 August 1955 as the Gateshead Youth Stadium . The build cost £30,000. The name it carries now arrived with the work of 1974, when the cinder track was lifted and a synthetic 3M Tartan surface laid in its place.

The covered Tyne and Wear Stand, 3,300 seats, went up in 1981 alongside three smaller stands. The running surface was relaid again in 1989 in Spurtan V. A £15m programme in 2006 brought artificial pitches, indoor training halls, sports science rooms and conference space; a second phase in 2010–11, at £7.6m, roofed the East Stand and added a media centre and new food outlets.

moved their home matches to Гейтсхед because the WSL requires grass. Reports in July 2025 flagged problems with the surface and plans to rebuild it.

Гейтсхед Харриерс have used the place since 1956, Гейтсхед ФК since 1977. The council owns it; GLL runs it.
