Gelora B.J. Habibie Stadium sits in the Bacukiki district of Parepare. The ground opened in 2001 as Gelora Mandiri Stadium, but it was renamed in September 2019 after B.J. Habibie, the third President of Indonesia, who was born in the city.

The pitch is natural Zoysia Matrella grass, which was brought up to FIFA standards during a renovation finished in early 2025. That project came after PSM Makassar lost their usual home, Andaliang, in 2020. They moved to Parepare in 2022, and on July 29 of that year they played their first home match here against Bali United in the BRI Liga 1, a game that drew 18,436 people.

The stands are now all-seater, holding 8,547 spectators. The renovation also saw the installation of 136 Panasonic LED floodlights, which provide 1,500 lux, and the replacement of the roofs on the West and East stands.

Persipare Parepare have played their home games here since the stadium opened. The venue has also hosted the first leg of the 2025 Shopee Cup semi-final between PSM Makassar and Công An Hà Nội FC, along with matches from the Indonesian Cup in 2005–2007 and the Indonesian League First Division in 2007–2008. A proposal for an additional Rp 28 billion to rebuild the VIP stand structure was under discussion in late 2024.
