Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium

Persebaya Surabaya did not start out here. The club moved in during 2017, leaving the Gelora 10 November Stadium behind because that older ground could no longer hold the crowd safely. In October 2019, after a defeat to PSS Sleman, supporters wrecked large parts of the facilities.

Between 2019 and 2020 the ground was reworked to FIFA standards, at a cost of IDR 100 billion, for a FIFA U-20 World Cup that never came: the tournament was cancelled. What arrived instead was the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and Gelora Bung Tomo took the opening ceremony and eight matches. By then the terraces were gone, replaced by 45,280 single seats; for the U-17 tournament the allowed crowd was pulled back further, to 44,200, on safety grounds.

The pitch is Zoysia japonica, picked because it holds up in the tropics, and the floodlights reach 3,500 lux. The ground sits out in Benowo, in the Pakal district, within the wider Surabaya Sports Center — an indoor arena, a drag racing circuit and training pitches share the site.

The largest crowd recorded came on 18 October 2025, when 33,432 watched Persebaya lose 3–1 to Persija Jakarta in the BRI Super League. The name has never changed, and no sponsor has been attached to it; it belongs to Bung Tomo.
