Gimnasio Municipal Mario Marchant Binder

Puerto Montt, Chile

Formerly: Gimnasio Municipal, Gimnasio Municipal de Puerto Montt

It is an indoor arena in the centre of Puerto Montt, on Calle Lota 185, close to the intersection with Calle Urmeneta.

Its identity comes from the floor. In 2015 the municipality finished works that included a new *piso multiuso* covering 732 square meters. It meets NBA-FIBA standards and was finished with a protective coating.

The venue holds 2,000 people, yet the 2025 Liga DOS National Finals drew more, described as a full house with crowds of over 2,500. Puerto Montt Básquetbol won the first two games against Boston College in that series. CEB Puerto Montt also calls the place home.

It is named for Mario Marchant Binder, a politician who served as a deputy from 1973 to 1977 and as Intendant of Llanquihue from 1952 to 1958. He died in 1987. The name was in use by 2011, when a tournament program recorded a *Homenaje a Don Mario Marchant Binder*. Before that, it was simply the *Gimnasio Municipal*, or *Gimnasio Municipal de Puerto Montt*. The year it opened is not in the records.

Other municipal gyms in the region have their own reputations—the Gimnasio Fiscal in Castro, or the one in Puerto Varas.
