Grace Road

Grace Road sits in the Aylestone district of Leicester, a cricket ground. Leicestershire County Cricket Club bought the land from the Duke of Rutland in 1877 for £40,000 and played their first match there the following year against a touring Australian team. The club left for a spell in 1901 but returned in 1946, buying the ground back in 1966.

The pitch square measures 76 metres across and 63 metres in length, cut to heights between 3mm and 15mm. The ground holds 6,000 for cricket, though it can reach 19,999 for concerts. Elton John played here in June 2016.

World Cup matches have been hosted here, including the 1983 edition (India vs Zimbabwe), the 1999 tournament (Zimbabwe vs India, West Indies vs Scotland), and a Women's Test Match between England and India in August 2006. The ground has carried different names through sponsorship: traditionally Grace Road or The County Ground until 2016, the Fischer County Ground from 2016 to 2021, and since 2021 the Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road.

A £60 million redevelopment plan to increase capacity to 10,000 was in the planning phase as of 2023.
