The GS Staalwerken Stadion sits inside Dierdonk, a residential district on the edge of Helmond. It replaced Campus De Braak.
Helmond Sport moved in as tenants, and the opening fixture against MVV Maastricht gave the place its first competitive test in the Eerste Divisie.
What stands out is the pitch itself, laid as a hybrid surface rather than a plain grass field, a choice more associated with grounds built to take a heavier fixture load. For a stadium of modest capacity, tucked into a corner of a second-tier city, it points to a build done with an eye on maintenance rather than spectacle.
The municipality of Helmond oversaw the project, though no single architect or contractor is attached to the name in the way older stadiums carry a builder's legacy. For now, the GS Staalwerken Stadion is defined by what it replaced and by the club it was built to finally give a fitting address.
