Gumi Civic Stadium

The Gumi Civic Stadium sits at the centre of a sports complex that has grown around it. A safety reinforcement in 1997 stripped away the standing areas and installed permanent seating, reducing the capacity to just over fifteen thousand. The change was driven by necessity rather than design.

The stadium is not a football-only venue, and that multi-purpose nature defines its character. A synthetic running track with World Athletics Class-1 certification sits alongside the natural grass pitch, allowing the facility to host international athletics events like the 26th Asian Athletics Championships. This dual function is supported by an auxiliary stadium built during a 2012 expansion, along with courts for volleyball and basketball. The presence of an inline skating rink within the complex is an unusual feature for a Korean sports ground.

Football has been a visitor, not a resident. The stadium hosted matches during the inaugural 1985 K League season and the 1988 President's Cup International Football Tournament. No club calls it home, and it carries no sponsorship name, remaining simply the Gumi Civic Stadium since its opening. A major remodeling in 2021 updated the facilities for the 102nd National Sports Festival, adding an electronic scoreboard and improved lighting.
