The ground at Üçkuyular carries a name that was given to a building no longer standing. The old Göztepe Stadium, begun in 1942 and opened in 1949, was renamed after Gürsel Aksel in 1978, when the club captain died. That stadium came down in 2015, and when the replacement rose on the same site, the name came with it.

It opened on 26 January 2020 with a Süper Lig fixture against Beşiktaş. Göztepe won 2–1, and Halil Akbunar scored the first goal on the new pitch — a hybrid surface, laid for a ground commissioned by TOKİ, designed by DBArchitects and built by Rönesans Holding.

Since then the Turkish Football Federation has twice sent its showpiece here. Beşiktaş beat Antalyaspor 2–0 in the 2020–21 Turkish Cup final; two seasons later Fenerbahçe beat İstanbul Başakşehir by the same score. Turkey played Iceland here in the UEFA Nations League on 9 September 2024.

The stadium is not reserved for football. Mor ve Ötesi played it on 31 May 2025, and that August the club's women's volleyball side celebrated promotion to the Sultanlar Ligi on the same turf. A Tan Taşçı concert in May 2026 was marked by a pyrotechnic malfunction.

Under sponsorship the venue is billed as ISONEM Park Gürsel Aksel Stadium.
