Stadium
Gyumri City Stadium
Gyumri, Armenia
Formerly: City Stadium of Leninakan
Gyumri City Stadium has stood since the 1920s, watching the city change names from Leninakan to Gyumri while the local club, FC Shirak, has called it home since 1958.
The pitch is cut from natural grass, but the visual story is written in the stands. That proximity matters. It means a mistake is seen instantly, and a mistake ends it.
The stadium hosted the 2011–12 Armenian Cup Final, a match where Shirak defeated Impulse 1–0 to secure their first title. It also witnessed a European qualifier in 2012, where Shirak held Russia’s Rudar Pljevlja to a draw. In the Premier League, the table goes out of the window in these games.
