Hala Centrum Sportu i Rekreacji Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego
Warsaw, Poland
The Centrum Sportu i Rekreacji Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego (CSiR UW) stands at ul. Stefana Banacha 2A, 02-097 Warszawa. The University of Warsaw opened the building in 2007. It is not a single arena but a complex that includes a sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, a climbing wall, and badminton courts. The hall itself measures 55 by 37 metres.
Seating is limited to 270 places. The capacity does not fill, which is typical for the venue’s primary function: it hosts the teams of AZS Uniwersytet Warszawski . The futsal side competes in the I liga futsalu. The volleyball setup is smaller, featuring an U23 side. The hall is also the setting for the finals of the Akademickie Mistrzostwa Polski, the Academic Championships of Poland, in handball and futsal.
Structural defects were identified in the original build, and a new centre is planned to replace the 2007 building starting in 2025.
