Hala Sportowa Liceum Ogólnokształcącego im. Zdzisława Zielonki
Grodków, Poland
The Hala Sportowa Liceum Ogólnokształcącego im. Zdzisława Zielonki is not a place where the wind finds its way through the stands. It is a school sports hall in Grodków, Poland. The building opened in December 2005, and by 2015 it had acquired the name of Zdzisław Zielonka, a local handball player and teacher. The hall hosts UKS Olimp Grodkow handball matches and also sees indoor glider model competitions.
There is nothing to see on the outside that suggests what happens behind the doors. Inside, the floor is natural wooden parquet, sanded and varnished in December 2018 to keep the surface smooth for players. The capacity is 600, split between 350 seated and 250 standing, though one record from the 2014/2015 season lists 589, a figure that remains unexplained. The hall does not host major events or concerts, and no attendance record has been set that would warrant keeping a note of it. The address is ul. Sienkiewicza 29, though it is also listed as 29a; the difference is minor, and the location is easy to find.
What makes the grounds different from the identical one down the road is that it belongs to a school, not a football club. It is a functional space, built for a purpose and maintained for that purpose.
