The old main stand at Hietalahti is a listed building.
The rebuild was not cosmetic. Vaasa needed the ground to meet UEFA requirements to host matches at the 2018 European Under-19 Championship, and the new pitch — Saltex Drop artificial turf — was laid in August 2016.
Much of the groundwork came earlier. In 1995 the running track was taken out and undersoil heating and automatic irrigation installed. The floodlights were upgraded in 1998.
It was Hietalahden jalkapallostadion until September 2015, then Elisa Stadion until August 2022. The address, Rantamaantie 6, has not moved.
