High Street Oval
Queanbeyan City FC did not choose High Street Oval. The club, founded in 1966, was moved here in 2023 by the Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council, which manages the ground and which relocated the side from Riverside Oval.
What arrived was a small ground on the eastern side of the town, on natural grass, with room for about a thousand.
The move brought money with it. In September 2023 a New South Wales state budget allocated $7.5 million towards new facilities at the oval, including change rooms for Queanbeyan City.
The club's own history sits mostly elsewhere. Its 2013 Capital League grand final run finished at Seiffert Oval, and the 1969 ACT First Division final between Queanbeyan Makedonia and Olympic — abandoned amid fighting — belongs to a ground and an era this one had nothing to do with. Cricket in the town goes to Freebody Oval. High Street Oval is football.
