Nõmme Kalju have not held this ground without interruption. The club played here from 1936, left, returned in 1997 and stayed until 2011, came back again in 2015 for five more seasons, and moved back in for good in May 2024 once the latest rebuild was finished.
Construction began in 1930 in the Nõmme district, some eight kilometres southwest of central Tallinn, and the stadium opened six years later. The 2023–2024 reconstruction replaced the pitch with an artificial surface carrying FIFA's STAR-2 certification, the latest in a series of rebuilds that also took place in 2002, 2006 and 2013.
Nõmme Kalju's reserve side, the U21 team, plays its home fixtures at Hiiu staadion as well.
